Worldship may have dropped the record of the year and they’re following it up with a V/A that’s every bit as good.

LA label Worldship Music is following Roberta’s amazing Brooklyn Avenue Sessions with the imprint’s first ever V/A. Herald Traccs Vol 1 features some familiar names in Santiago Salazar and Worldship’s Teflon Dons and some unfamiliar ones in a “mostly LA-based affair.” Salazar’s “Jam’s Theme” leads off with an irresistible dancefloor incendiary device. Kelvin K’s “En Echo” is a jazzy, smokey, ’90s deep house workout.

The b-side features Teflon Dons’ “Movements In The Opium Den Act III (Reston’s Flat)” – a UKG-before-it-was-UKG sound and one in a series that began with the label’s cult 12″ and highly rare WMC ’98 Music Sampler. Herald Traccs closes with “First Tear” from Westcoastgoddess — a new name to me but apparently that’s because I’m lazy and don’t keep up with the times.

It’s good that all four tracks are on SoundCloud because there is an embarrassment of gems and it’s hard to pick just one of them:

Herald Traccs Vol 1 is out today on vinyl – get it here at Bandcamp.
