0161 Underground - Runnin album art

Blowing up another DJ’s secret weapons cache: 0161 Underground makes “no nonsense club music from the rainy city,” by which I think they mean Manchester. I found these records on SoundCloud, tracked them down on Bandcamp and I haven’t found a stinker in the bundle yet.

“Runnin'” is just the latest track and a pointer to invite you to discover a growing catalog of deep but energetic dance music, spiked with a bit of garage, drums that will knock some bodies around and vocal clips that will lift them back up. Sometimes deep and dubby, sometimes evoking the best of MK (vintage MK) with the heat of David Morales, this guy is teaching a masterclass in making timelessly good dance music. They don’t miss.
