Audio Soul Project‘s “North & Damen” is a record so steeped in Chicago history you might want – but do not need – a set of footnotes for it. The original (or Part 2 of it) was released on Afterhours – one of the landmark local labels that captured the spirit and soul of late ’90s Chicago house. And the address in the title and the track itself memorializes Red Dog, which was for a generation of DJs and house music lovers what a club like the Muzik Box had been for the previous one.

A new version of “North & Damen” – the Reprise – anchors Archival 3, a vinyl release from Fresh Meat Records arriving on orange wax this week. Check it (and watch it spin) here:

Three other tracks appear on the V/A – Luis Baro’s “My Rx” (as in prescription, memorializing Ron Trent and Chez Damier‘s Prescription Records), Art of Tones‘ “The Looq” and Yann Polewka’s “Rêves.”
