Before there were UK Garage records there were NY Garage records – a name somewhat retconned to fit the distinct boundaries of genres which were of more interest to late-’90s NME journalists than to the DJs who played them. George Morel’s 1993 “Let’s Groove” was one of those records that managed to fill out the crate of serious DJs of all styles for many years. The vocal mix lacked the chopped up style that MK was pioneering (and Van Helden and Todd Edwards were discovering) but the shuffle is what got heads bobbing. One of the most flexible classics out there.

As you might expect there was no shortage of remixes, from a 1996 cover by Morel himself to 2013 remixes on Get Physical (featuring Coyu, Tom Trago, PBR Streetgang and Claptone) and a 2014 set featuring Steve Nash and Morel with a “Transparent mix.”
