This week’s featured mix is from DJ, producer, label owner and one of the baddest men in Chicago, Gant Garrard aka Gant-Man.
I don’t think the introductions are necessary here, but if they are – Gant first came to prominence a generation before the Martinez Brothers or any other wunderkind as the teenage turntable maestro of Chicago’s Second Wave of House Music in the 1990s. At age 15 he had an EP on the notorious Dance Mania (“It’s About Time”) and began his worldwide travels. These days, Gant is also known as one of the key figures in Juke, keeping his “Gant Garrard” name for his more straight-ahead House productions and sets; his last EP on Cajual Records under that name was reviewed in June by 5 Magazine here.
