It’s been 10 years for Duke Shin’s residency The Goods and they’re celebrating a decade of turning up the heat this March 23, 2023.

The Goods is every Thursday night at Swig (1469 N. Milwaukee) in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. There is never a cover.

“Rather than featuring a ‘special guest’ – which we feel is every week at The Goods! – we’re celebrating with the homies who hold it down for me when I’m out of town,” Duke tells 5 Mag. “My unofficial residents,” featuring John Simmons, Merrick Brown, Toyacoyah, Chachi Guerrero, Marty Mars and Duke himself.

Reflecting on 10 years, Duke says that it’s “been a struggle in Wicker Park of late,” partly due to the overnight parking ban on Milwaukee Avenue sponsored by the current alderman Daniel La Spata. “As a resident of Wicker Park (99-07) and living mostly on the West Side ever since (Ukie, Humboldt, etc), it’s sad to see what’s become of a once vibrant neighborhood, with a cultural relevance we all know (the legendary loft parties on Milwaukee, Red Dog, Artful Dodger, Lava 1, Lava 2, Danny’s, Big Wig, Mad Bar, Sonotheque, Darkroom … and on and on). Now, the lack of traffic and cars only make the increasing vacancies more noticeable, even appearing blightful on some blocks.

“For those who have enjoyed what we do over the past 10 years, we could use your support. Come out. Hear a new DJ or a favorite you wouldn’t expect to hear in an intimate setting with no cover.”

The Goods is every Thursday at Swig (1469 N. Milwaukee); for more info see dukeshin.com/events.
