The Ultimate UK Garage Documentary Makes Its Chicago Debut

Rewind 4Ever: A History of UK Garage at East Room on Sunday June 17 2018 with a director Q&A and afterparty sets by Mazi, RUBB Sound System, the Almaria Brothers & Czboogie.

Twenty years ago, a musical style started by “some guys in a pub” crashed into the mainstream of the UK cultural scene on its way to becoming a global electronic music phenomenon.

Rewind 4Ever tells the story of the phenomenal rise and spectacular crash of the UK Garage scene, a music style related to Chicago’s own House Music and which spawned the careers of artists ranging from Grammy Award-winning producer Todd Edwards, MJ Cole, Roy Davis Jr. and Disclosure.

Rewind 4Ever: A History of UK Garage makes its Chicago debut in the birthplace of House Music on Sunday, June 17 2018 at East Room in Logan Square (2354 N. Milwaukee Avenue, 6pm-12am.)

Filmmaker Alex Lawton will be on hand at the screening beginning at 6pm and will engage the audience in a Q&A about Rewind 4Ever and the lasting influence of UK Garage until 8pm.

“Not just for the Garage raver, I believe Rewind 4Ever will be of great interest to fans across the full scope of electronic music, an ever important historical piece that sets the scene for what’s happening in today’s UK urban and dance music industries.” — Alex Lawton
