I like to imagine that Secret Society Records in Chile is an actual secret society, with secret handshakes and clandestine meetings set by an esoteric code scratched in chalk on the corner of nondescript buildings. If you manage to get vetted, maybe they invite you to a basement party where deep jams like “Relacion Especial” get played three, four or even five times a night.

Bluespirit is an alias of Steve O’Sullivan, and the lowslung original gleaming with brass is exactly the type of record that gets a party started. The Move D remix works in a way that I never thought smooth jazz could work with seismic deep house beats. Joaquin Lledo goes for the full moon San Francisco vibe on a remix that feels like an homage to the tripped out tracks of the ’90s. Recommended.
