Blazers is a French producer who has appeared in this magazine a few times and has really started to get around. He’s been connected with Ashley Beedle on a few crucial records — first with Groove Sequence on F*CLR, and then for Blazers’ Live At The Fitness Room EP on Skint which featured an Ashley Beedle remix forged out of coke-coal hot enough to melt faces.

It feels a little strange to be mentioning that now, because Blazers is really stepping out in 2023 with releases on tasty deep house label Miura and now this remix pack on Sengiley.

The original Stingray was released in September 2022; all three tracks are remixed by Brine, HATT.D and Naconda respectively. Brine’s remix of the title track has a cool ’90s shuffle and a fuzzy, lo-fi aesthetic with some classic samples that bounce in to keep you on your feet. “Positive Perspective” is built upon a wickedly crooked bassline — HATT.D drapes pumpin’ beats and keys across it like a holy altar. Naconda’s remix on “Elements of Persuasion” is the most off-kilter on a record of otherwise pretty straight-forward deep house mixes: big vocals clipped to perfection, phased chords and the whole thing sounds like it’s been passed through a vaporwave filter, giving it a twinkling, shimmering sound.
