The twenty-seven year old lossless file format has finally found a home on Traxsource.

The popular digital download shop has announced the introduction of the lossless Audio Interchange File Format, or AIFF.

The “May AIFF Upgrade Event” is underway to welcome what is probably the world’s most venerable, still-in-circulation file format (three years older than WAVs, seven years older than MP3s).

Rather unexpectedly, AIFF has become widely acknowledged as the superior “pro standard” for digital DJing in the last few years. Unlike MP3s, AIFF files are lossless. But unlike WAVs, AIFFs also support the ID3 tags, metadata and embedded artwork commonly associated with MP3s, making cataloging across devices and systems convenient. And thanks to ever-cheaper and -larger file storage options, there’s almost no reason not to use the highest quality files available. (Beatport began selling AIFFs in 2011; Boomkat offers FLAC and JunoDownload offers WAVs.)

During the May AIFF Upgrade, Traxsource is offering 35% off MP3 to AIFF Upgrades as well as free WAV to AIFF exchanges. Visit the Upgrade page and enter the upgrade code PBC-9396A272621765D2, which is reusable as many times as you need prior to May 31st.
